Chapter 22

Richard watched Barbara intently from where he stood, still trying so hard to decipher what she was up to currently.

His eyes darted to Emily who was quite frightened but tried so hard to remain calm and bold.

“She appears to be fine”, Richard mumbled and made to head back to his room when he heard the third rule.

“Rule no 3: keep your distance away from my husband”, Barbara said and immediately, the atmosphere turned dead silent.

Richard’s eyes widened in shock, and so did that of Emily.

Emily squinted her eyes, trying to think of a reason why she would go after another woman’s husband.

“Do you understand?” Barbara questioned, peering piercingly into Emily’s soft eyes.

“Yes, I do”, she replied as she lowered her head to the ground.

“Good!” Barbara said as she stood to her feet and made her way towards the staircase.

Richard quickly headed back to his room and shut the door behind him, panting heavily with an expression that showcased utmost confusion.
