Chapter 21

Just then, the telephone in the room started ringing aloud.

Emily was taken aback for a moment as she wondered what a telephone was doing there in the room.

“Come to the living room”, she heard Barbara’s voice, that caused her to shudder in fright.

“Right away, ma’am”, she replied and dropped the call.

From all indications, they had placed the telephone there to make communication much easier.

She hurriedly stood to her feet and walked towards the living room, which was about three minutes walk away from her quarters.

Entering into the living room, she met Barbara, who was sitting on a couch, with her legs crossed and a glass of wine in her hands.

Emily wondered if the rich always had a glass of wine in their hands every hour of the day.

“Perhaps, it’s their lifestyle”, she thought silently, wondering if she would ever be like that when she eventually becomes rich.

“I’m here, ma’am”, Emily said calmly as she bowed her head in respect.

“Sit”, Barbara commanded, without taking her head
