Chapter 31

The man stepped forward, his gaze scanning me with an unsettling intensity. "She appears weak," he observed, a hint of mockery in his tone.

"Don't be fooled by appearances," Marcus said, his voice a low growl. "She may seem harmless, but she's proven to be more resilient than we expected."

The man chuckled darkly. "I look forward to seeing just how resilient she truly is," he said, his eyes narrowing.

As the guards left the room, I found myself alone with Alpha Marcus and his second-in-command. The air was heavy with tension, and I knew that I had to tread carefully. My life, and the life of my unborn child, hung in the balance.

Marcus approached me, his cold eyes locking onto mine. "You are a valuable asset to us," he said, his tone dripping with false sweetness. "Your child holds the key to our future, and you will play your part in ensuring that future comes to pass."
