Mercer glanced at Calla coldly and said, "There's no need. I'm in a rush."

When she saw that he was about to leave, nervousness took over her. She stepped forward to block him. "Even if you're in a rush, you need to eat. I've already prepared it."

Mercer had just started, "I—"

But Calla yanked Mercer's hand and pulled him toward the table. She took his briefcase from him and said, "Eat quickly. It won't take more than a few minutes of your time."

He scanned the dishes on the table, including the breakfast burrito and smoothie bowl. Mercer pursed his lips. He couldn't withstand the hunger he was feeling, so he sat down and began eating breakfast.

He couldn't complain. It didn't taste half bad. Rather than hurrying off, he sat at the dining table and had a large meal.
