Julia POV

I stared at her, expecting her to laugh at her own joke, but her expression remained serious. The only sounds heard between us were our breathing and the ticking of the clock. The warm hues of the walls were designed to make the area seem pleasant, yet the air surrounding us felt dense and suffocating making it difficult to breathe.

"W-What!?" I asked, but she raised her palm to my face, forcing me to stop in the middle of my objection.

"Without asking why you’re doing this? Your concern should not be related to asking questions; all you have to do is stay by my grandson’s side."

"And of course, you’re not doing this for free. I’m giving you a large sum of money and security after the completion of our contract." She added. Her words ended on a breathless note.
