Paige's POV

"What happened to you? Are you okay?" Steve asked worriedly while caressing my cheeks. I held his arm and nodded at him.

"I-I just visited Aunt Precy," I answered and swallowed hard. Sorry, Aunt Precy.

He heaved a sigh and wiped my tears using his thumb. He pulled me closer to him for another hug as he caressed my hair and whispered… "I came to surprise you but you surprised me instead. Hush, Paige. Hush now."

I sniffed and nodded at him. "Sorry."

I pulled away and wiped my tears. I fixed my hair and dress before hitting his arm. He jumped in shock as his eyes widened at me.

He caressed his arm. "What was that for?"

I frowned at him. "You didn't show up for five long years, Steve Andrews. You expect me to welcome you with open arms? Are you really my friend?"

He chuckled and pinched my nose. "Sorry. I was trying to move on, you know."
