Chapter 15: More than ten years

"MOMMY, where are we going?" nine-years-old Jenny asked her mother.

"We're just going to visit a relative in Leyte," Dalia replied to her daughter while busy packing. They would deliberately leave at night so that no one can see.

"Is that far?"

"Quite." She glanced at the child. "Oh, are you done with your bag?"

"Can I bring all my stuffed toys?"

She glanced at the child's toys that almost covered the entire bed. "Just choose the ones you bring."

"Why?" She asked naively.

"Dear, don't ask too many questions."

"Why?" Jennifer asked her mother.

Dalia could not answer her daughter's repeated question because of her husband's hasty entry into the room.

"You have to leave! Go through the basement!"

"What's happening?" Dalia felt frightened because of the extreme worry on her husband's face.

"We don't have time! Hurry up!" Daryl feared not for himself, but for his wife and daughter.

Dalia carried their daughter. The girl also peeked out the window and saw some armed men outside their house.
