Chapter 23: The driver

"WHAT are you doing here?" Yazed gave James an unfriendly look when he saw him in their yard. He came home early because the maid reported earlier that she noticed his mother had difficulty breathing.

"Call of duty," James replied flatly to his rival for Jenny. He also just arrived and he hadn't seen her yet.

"Dad's not here—"

"He sent me here to be your mother's personal driver whenever they go out." James said, keeping his cool.

Yazed's jaw clenched as he held himself back. Only this man dared to interrupt his speech without hesitation.

James simply ignored the scrutinizing look that Yazed directed at him. A look of distrust; dislike for his presence there. He pocketed his left hand and the other was holding a cigarette. "If you don't mind?" He held up the lit cigarette.

Yazed gave him a death stare before turning his back. He doubted his character even more. Based on the way he spoke, it didn't look like he was just an ordinary citizen.
