Hurt and betrayal

When Amber reached her neighborhood, she suddenly remembered what transpired between her and her mother. She would have felt another surge of anger but she did not. Instead, she felt bad about it and at the same time, she felt sorry for her mother. She didn’t mean to yell at her or make them have a misunderstanding, but she could not understand why her mother claimed that she came home yesterday when she was out in the woods and only just returned home in the morning.

To be sure that her mother was not putting up an act, she asked Emma at school if her mother called, but Emma had told her she didn’t call and neither did she. Also, the part that made her almost want to believe what her mother was saying was when she didn’t see any of her neighbors near her house or inside and no one was talking about it. It made her want to believe what Hazel said, that she is seeing a thing in two different ways. Maybe in this case, she was in two different places at the same time.
