**Emily’s POV**

I silently noticed how the smile on Alexander’s face fell but I didn’t pay much attention to it. Instead, I tapped on his shoulders lightly to bring him back to the question I asked.

“Did you do it to protect her?” I asked, looking up at his handsome face which now looked creased with worry.

My heart throbbed as I anticipated his answer. I wondered if he did it to protect her because it seemed he would always be involved with Sophia even though we were mated.

Also, I didn't want to ask about what she was doing in the room earlier. It might turn into an argument and that was the last thing I needed.
