Miguel's POV

Since Friday night, I've not gone home, and today is Sunday. I was supposed to be at home with my family, but here I was, working my arse off with my grumpy assistant who hasn't ceased complaining about how heartless I was.

My phone rang as I sorted through my files.

“Hello?” I picked it up without checking the caller ID.

“When are you returning home? You've not been home since Friday.” Jewel said from the other end of the call.

I blinked.

Jewel was the last person I expected to get a call from. I guess she has started using the phone I got for her.

“I've been busy with some last-minute work. I will return when I have everything finalized.” I pinched the bridge of my nose.

“Do you need help? I don't have anything to do here, I can come and help you if it works for you, “Jewel offered.

She sounded a little desperate.

“No. I'm okay. You don't have to worry about me.” I sighed, “the work isn't cumbersome. I can take care of it quite fine.”
