Chapter 40

Later that night, I woke up in a bed that wasn’t the one I fell asleep in. I shot up and looked around. I wasn’t in the same room anymore, either.

"Kiara?" I yelled and jumped out of bed. There was no reply, and my heart was already starting to race. Instead, I decided to do the logical thing and go investigate where I was. I opened the bedroom door and recognised the house. I was by Sue’s mansion, but how?

Muffled voices came from down the hallway, so I decided to head in that direction. The closer I got, the clearer the voices came. One was a woman, and the other was a man. The man’s voice sounded so familiar, like an old memory from my past.

"What are you talking about?!" The man shouted.

"I can’t do this anymore. I need to take my happiness into consideration!" The woman replied while crying.

"Aren’t you happy with me?"

After a short pause, the woman responded, "No, I’m not. Maybe if it were just you and me... but with the boys… I just can’t."
