Chapter Four

"What the hell woman, don't you look where you are going?" Cedric bellowed, so much for wanting a coffee, he thought annoyingly. Seems like bad luck had woken up with him this morning.

Kimmie looked up hurriedly gasping, "Oh my God, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to please. I was lost in thoughts sorry." She pleaded.

With a look of disgust, Cedric ran his eyes over her. "Seems everybody does have something to be lost in." He muttered, still pulling at his shirt.

Kimmie gave a second look at the man in front of her, he was the type that covered a magazines front page, he smelled expensive and the look on his face told her the last thing she wanted was to be dragged by him. His muscled arms showed he was a regular at the gym. She wondered what would happen if she tried justifying her actions, losing a job and home was enough. She couldn't lose a face too.

Cedric boiled, his temperature rising. Only because of self-control or else he would have unleashed terror on her. He walked out heading to his car.

"Please sir, I am so sorry. I can get your clothes cleaned up, please let me. It’s impolite of me to let you walk away without doing the right thing please." She followed him towards the parking lot, he ignored her rants not sparing her a glimpse. Kimmie continued, "please let me clean it up sir, let me have your card I promise to get your clothes crisp, neat and well ironed back to you."

Cedric stared at her like she was an alien, "is something wrong with your mental health? Why are you following me? I don't care what you wish to do to suit your irritating conscience. You already ruined my work cloth and it's unforgivable. Why would someone like you have my cloth, do you know how much it's worth?" He gave her a once over, snorting. He took off the cloth throwing it in the backseat, grabbing a fresh t-shirt he put it on. Entered the driver’s seat, starting his car he drove off wildly.

Kimmie looked down at herself, she realized what he meant by someone like her. She was adorned in a dress and shoes that look worn-out, they were from Target and have been one her most priced adornments for some time. With her hair in a doughnut and pair of nerdy glasses she sure looked absurd. No wonder Brian had called her boring, compared to the classy and always elegantly dressed Kimberly.

Seeing him drive off, she flagged down a taxi hurriedly to go after him. She was determined to mend her mistake, her mum had thought her to always own up to her faults, and she was going to ensure she cleaned up the shirt and return it to him.

Cedric drove like a maniac to his penthouse, he hated the day already. Going back to the office wasn't an option when his work cloth had been ruined. He got to his penthouse, handed the valet the keys to park them. Just as he was about to step into the hall, he saw the lady from the coffee shop dropping from a taxi running towards him panting. He was startled, did she follow him all the way?

"What the hell are you? Why are you stalking me?" He asked furious.

Kimmie breathed heavily, "I am sorry sir. I only want to make sure your cloth is in good shape. I need you to give it to me please."

"It's obvious you are out of your mind, I told you to let go."

"You haven't forgiven me, which means you are really pissed over the cloth. So please hand it to me so I can do just by you."

"And what would cleaning of my shirt do to you?"

"Ease my conscience."

"You have lost it young lady." Cedric told her walking towards the elevator, he pressed the button. Just as she attempted to go in with him, he pushed her back. "If you don't want me to get you disgraced right here and right now, you would leave this premises immediately. And do well, never to show me your face!" He spat closing the elevator.

Cedric walked into the penthouse tossing his clothes around the bedroom like they pricked his skin. Today was one of the worst days of his life, he had woken up high-spirited not expecting the occurrences that had followed the day.

Ransacking his bar he pulled out a whiskey, pouring some into a glass, he downed it shivering at the effect. His life was about to take a different turn and he didn't think he was ready for it.

Kimmie huffed, she had never met a stubborn and unforgiving man like him. But news flash she was just as stubborn and resilient. She was going to get him to give her the cloth whether he like it or not, how she would go about it she had no idea. Tired out from the days happenings, she yawned.

Hungry and exhausted she flagged down a taxi to take her to Brian's address. She opened his door with the key she had, looking round the house she felt her own absence. She should have noticed it from the very beginning. He had never actually given her a chance in his life, all he did was make all the decisions making her carry them out.

Not giving herself room to worry about it, she packed her belongings and locked back the door dropping the key in the flower vase outside the house. She had always been strong and would also get over this, she assured herself.

She had always known where Bella kept the spare key to her two bedroom flat, she had lived there all her college life. Ever since Kimmie started living with Brian, it had only been two years, but he had prevented her from spending much time with Bella due to the workload she had. He never really gave her a time off, always wanting her to himself.

Bella being the insistent person, she ensured they got to see at least once in a week. This kept their friendship, if it were up to Jesse rules she would have lost her only place of solace.

Rummaging through the kitchen, Kimmie made herself a heavy sandwich. Wolfing it down like someone who had been deprived of food for weeks, she had a quick shower and laid in the room that had been her’s before. Bella had left it just the way it was.

Kimmie had pleaded with Bella to rent it out but she refused saying it belonged to her, she paid the rent without complain. Working as an engineer with a reputable construction company; Bella earned quite well and her parents were really supportive. Kimmie stopped her brain from thinking any further and let sleep evade the thoughts.
