Grasping At Straws

“What do you mean by that?” I asked, glaring at Ivan.

We were standing in the middle of the parking lot and I had the eerie feeling that someone was staring at us. I checked behind quickly but I didn't see or feel anyone.

“It’s Olivia,” Ivan said again.

I glared at him, “Whatever you're saying doesn't make sense. If you're just trying to stop me from going to see Father then you're wrong.”

Ivan rolled his eyes at me, “How can I stop you when the car tires have already been slashed?”

I stared at him, a frown masking my face, “You didn't do that?”

“When have you ever known me to indulge in petty things such as slashing of tires?” Ivan asked with a frown on his lip.

I nodded, that was true. Ivan would never be caught dead being so petty as to do this. He'd rather tie me up to a chair and leave me there.

“Fine. Then who would have done it if it wasn't you?” I asked, still suspicious.
