MIA
“Your stem cells weren't a match, I’m sorry.”The doctor’s words caused a shock in my brain as I swayed slightly, holding the edge of the bed to prevent myself from falling.“Are you alright, Miss?” the doctor asked.I gave him a weak smile, “I don't understand. Why didn't my stem cells match? She's my mother.”The doctor looked around the room, clearing his throat, “Perhaps we can discuss that after your mother is fine. We have a match and we need money to facilitate the surgery process.”I knew he was hiding something but I was too tired to force him to cough it up so I just left him and kept quiet, watching as he left the hospital room.My heart sank as he closed the door and I sat down on the small chair beside my mother’s bedside. We were in a small hospital with essential medical equipment and yet I couldn't pay my mother’s medical bills. It's been two months since she's been admitted to the hospital and the stem cell transplant from me was supposed to help her take care of the leukemia. As I stared at my mother’s prone figure lying on the bed I felt tears trickle down my cheeks. We were in a single room, this was the smallest ward I could afford for her.“Mom, I really wish you'd get better,” I cried. She had been in a coma for some days and the doctors wanted to perform the stem cell transplant before it was too late.I needed to figure out how to get money. I mulled over all the possible means and I settled on one option; visiting my Uncle Howard.Howard was my mom's elder brother but chances of him helping my mom were slim especially since he hadn't been on speaking terms with my mom for decades. He has always been very distant from my family and I figured he was my last option and the best bet I had if I wanted to save my mother’s life.“I’m going to see Uncle Howard and ask for his help, Mom, wish me luck,” I said to her before kissing her forehead.I grabbed my purse and headed out of the hospital and I bumped into the doctor at the reception.“Doctor,” I smiled at him, “I’ll be right back.”“Can we talk for a few minutes, Mia?” he asked.I nodded and he led me into his office. He offered me a seat and I took it, my heartbeat increasing as I wondered if he had more bad news for me.“What is it, Doctor? The suspense is killing me,” I stressed. The man laughed. He had a very beautiful smile and I suddenly noticed how attractive he was when he wasn't hovering around in his scrubs and trying to save my mother’s life.“Relax, Mia, I called you because I've got good news,” he said to me.I smiled, “Yes? What is the news about? I could use a little bit of good news right now.”“I know a way your mom can get her procedure done and complete her treatment without paying a dime,” he announced.I clapped my hands, squealing excitedly, “Tell me, Doctor!”He stood up and sat on his desk, his legs trapping me in my chair. I frowned, staring at him suspiciously.“What are you doing?” I queried.“You want to save your mom, right?” he asked.“Yes?”“Here’s how it works, I scratch your back and you scratch mine,” he grinned. My frown deepened, “Where do you need me to scratch?”He laughed, “This is exactly why I like you. You pick up things so fast.”Then before I could blink his lips smashed on mine as his hands grabbed my dress roughly. I wasted no time in pushing him away, my face filled with fury.“What the hell?” I glared at him.“Come on, baby, if you like it rough, you say so,” he laughed, pulling me toward him.“Let me go!” I snapped at him.“Don’t yell so much,” he chuckled, “I can gag you if you like that too. I'm also into kinks.”He winked at me and I felt disgusted as I struggled to wiggle out of his grasp. He leaned in to kiss me again and I kicked his balls, glaring at him, my eyes challenging him to try and touch me again.“Are you a psycho? You think I would sleep with you for money?” I raged.“No, I thought you would sleep with me to save your mom’s life,” he grunted out in pain.“Well, I don't need you to do that and I'm taking my mom out of this hospital and I'm reporting you,” I threatened. He laughed mockingly at me, “Go ahead, you can't do anything and no one would believe you. Also if you don't pay up all outstanding debts your mom owes you aren't taking her to anyone. And if by the end of today, you don't provide the money for surgery, you forget about it!”I was shocked as I stared at him.“Aren’t you supposed to help people?” I asked him, scoffing in disbelief. He scoffed, “I offered to help you and you threw it back in my face kicking my balls while you were at it.”“You wanted me to whore myself out to you,” I corrected him sharply. He pointed to the door, “Get out!”I didn't waste time running out of his office. I didn't want him to see my tears. I raced toward the road and hailed a taxi, giving him the address of my uncle.“Are you alright, Miss?” the taxi driver asked, concerned.A wave of fury rushed through me as I remembered how the doctor had pretended to be sweet before trying to rape me.“Just drive,” I scowled at him, “I’m fine!”I have never felt so humiliated in my entire life. Not only did the doctor insult me, but he also threatened to kick my mom out of his hospital. My uncle was my only hope. Please, help me, I whispered silently.MIA“I’m sorry I can't help you.”I was a few seconds from breaking down completely especially when he stared at me like I was dirt and I was disturbing him. “What do you mean you can't help me?” I asked him, gritting my teeth. Howard stared at me like I had lost my shit before he burst into a mocking laughter. “I can't help you because I don't care what happens. You can't barge into my house and force me to save your mother.”“But she's your sister!” I cried. “So?” he arched an eyebrow at me, his mocking smile never leaving his lips.I saw his wife scoff as she stared at me before continuing to scroll through her phone.“Filthy beggars,” she muttered under her breath but I heard her. I've always wondered what the history was between my mom and uncle. My parents weren't as wealthy as my uncle but when my father was alive we were comfortable. Ever since the accident, all our wealth got drained into keeping my mom alive and now she needs to have surgery. I couldn't afford to take
MIAI groaned, opening my eyes as a wave of pain hit me. “Ugh!” I moaned in pain, massaging my temples. My mouth tasted sour and my throat was dry. I desperately needed water. I squinted to see where I was but the place was pitch dark. I reached out to the empty air and the sounds of chains echoed in the dark room. My heartbeat increased as panic gripped my chest. “Hello?! Is anybody out there?” I screamed out loudly. I tried to move and I realized I was confined to a metal place. I was also chained to my wrists and ankles. “Anybody?! Help me! What is going on?” I cried out. The door made a loud creaking sound before the room was flooded with light and my worst fear was confirmed. I was inside a large empty warehouse with different sizes of metal cages but they were all empty. I was in one of the metal cages and I was chained up like an animal. “Good. You’re awake just in time for the final auction.”I blinked as I focused on the petite woman who entered the warehouse. She was
JAVIER“Your voice… you were at the auction,” she sputtered, her eyes widening in fear as she stepped back into the cage. “You don't have to be scared of me, I'm not gonna hurt you,” I coaxed. “No, get away from me!” she shrieked. “I told you we should have busted her out when she was still at the auction place. Now she doesn't trust me!” I snapped at my brother, Ivan who was behind me. “You would have ruined the whole mission. And it was unfortunate we didn't have enough cash to buy her when she arrived,” Ivan sympathized. I scoffed, “You don't understand what it feels like to know that she's terrified of me. I can smell her fear.”“We don't have time for this, Javier, bring her and we will explain to her on the way.”“No! I'm not going anywhere with you guys. I'd rather stay here,” she snapped. “Stay here? He was going to use a hot poker stick on you,” Ivan scoffed. “Don’t talk to her like that, she’s stressed!” I snapped at him. I stared at the terrified girl standing in fr
MIAI woke up with a start and frowned. I recognized the room I was in. It was the flashy and fully furnished bedroom Javier had given me when I arrived at his penthouse. “What happened?” I asked no one in particular, groaning and massaging my temples. Someone knocked softly on my door before it opened gently and Javier’s handsome face came into my view. He had striking silver eyes with silver-platinum hair that looked tousled and rough, almost like he had just stepped out of the bed. His handsome face looked worried and his thick brow was knitted together in concern. His full red lips parted softly as he spoke. “Are you alright?” he asked, standing at a safe distance. I frowned, his muscular frame seemed to fill up my entire doorway and his perfume filled my nostrils. He exuded an aura of sexiness and masculine power. It was odd because I rarely had time to find guys attractive. “Why are you standing so far away?” I asked my frown still firmly in place. Javier wiggled his han

MIA“Who said that?” Javier and Ivan stared at me like I was speaking a different language. “Who said that?!” I repeated my question this time with more force. Ivan glared at me and looked away, “Is this an elaborate ruse to stay? All you have to do is admit you wanna stay.”I scoffed, “I heard a voice in my head. It’s not a ruse, trust me, the last thing I want is to be here with you.”“Wait… you heard a voice in your head?” Javier asked. “Never mind, I wanna go home,” I snapped, “I’m starting to get delusional here.”“But what if…” Javier started to say but Ivan interrupted him sharply. “You don't honestly think she's a werewolf, do you? She's too naive to be one besides she doesn't smell like one,” Ivan scoffed in his usual condescending tone. I rolled my eyes at him ignoring all the insults in his words and focused on one word, “I don't wanna be delusional like y’all. Besides, I don't wanna be a beast either.”Javier looked away and Ivan scoffed but they both said nothing. N
JAVIER “Classic move, Bro.”I glanced at Ivan who was standing behind me and snickered as I watched Mia run into the hospital. I frowned, my brows furrowed in confusion. “What are you doing here? Did you follow us?” I asked him.I glanced at the man whose constant honking had interrupted the moment I was having with Mia and I scowled. He seemed to notice me and he scoffed. “You don't get all lovey-dovey in a hospital car park especially when you're parked wrongly,” he mumbled before stalking off toward the hospital. A low growl left my lips as I stared daggers at the back of his head while Ivan chuckled softly beside me. “Relax, Bro, he's not the cause of your problem,” Ivan laughed. I glared at him, “Seriously, what are you doing here?” Ivan shrugged, “I couldn't allow you to go alone without backup. What if you needed my help or something?”I raised an eyebrow at him, signifying that I didn't believe a word of what he said. “Okay, I wanted to know if you would try to convinc
MIA“How dare you show your face here after what you've done?!”My lips curled into a snarl as I glared at my uncle, fury washing over me as I remembered what he had done. “Is that what you say to someone who you just bumped into?” my uncle asked, adjusting his tie nervously. His eyes scanned the crowd nervously and I realized he was scared and probably scanning the crowd for cops. “I'm not alone,” I said to him.He cleared his throat nervously, “We can talk about this, Mia.”I walked away from him, my eyes scanning the crowd for any familiar face. “What are you doing here?” I asked him. “I came to check up on your mom,” he answered. I scoffed, “So you sold me off to become a whore and you're suddenly taking care of my mother?”“Whore? What are you talking about, Mia?” my uncle laughed nervously. “Don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about!” I snapped at him, “You and that doctor drugged me.”“He gave you an injection to help you relax. He said you won't be availa
