My heart raced to my chest at the mention of my mother’s name and just like that every chitchat ceased.

“What’s wrong with her?” I asked, opening the door and stepping out worriedly.

Olivia smirked, “Nothing. She's sleeping like a baby, but I can't have you guys bickering over nothing for hours.”

I growled at her, “What the hell is your problem?”

“Say thank you,” she hissed at me, “I've just helped you get rid of whatever argument you guys may have been having back there.”

I couldn't argue with her on that. At least her interruption got Javier to stop his incessant questions.

I stared at Leo and he nodded, “We’ve got to go, Mia.”

Javier stood protectively in front of me, “She’s not going anywhere with you.”

Olivia rolled her eyes, “Ugh! This guy? How did you even survive?”

Javier narrowed his eyes into slits as he stared at her, “Are you surprised I didn't die?”
