Their handsome Mate

Cassandra's POV…

“Isn't he just breathtaking?” A feminine voice said as she fanned her face with her right hand. Her eyes fixated on him.

“I wish the Moon Goddess would fate me with him!” Another young female wailed with a bright smile on her face.

“His mate has got to be so beautiful and compelling!” The next one said and they all nodded.

“Alpha Alder just glance at me. Please!!” Another one begged.

There, I stood and watched the she-wolves gush shamelessly at him, while he acted oblivious to their screams and walked away elegantly. My eyes refused to stop trailing after his alluring figure, as I wished so much to hold him dearly—everything about him spelled handsomeness and perfection; those pinkish yet curved lips; his silky jet black hair; that pair of intimidating, but astounding jade green eyes always leaves me daydreaming around him.

“Such a demigod!” my gush came as a whisper as I gaped continuously at Alder—Alpha Alder to be precise. He's the young but devilishly handsome Alpha of our Pack.

State anything that indicates perfection, Alpha Alder fits into any category; he's the man of every she-wolves' dream—mine inclusive.

Here at the welcome party specifically hosted for Alder's return, he walked gracefully on the red carpet, heading for the majestic palace. At the sidelines were the citizens with me cheering for him.

Alder finally went into the palace and I instantly assumed he'll retire straight for his room; he is exhausted from the battle right now. Going to bed will only be logical.

‘Won't you go inform him now, Cassy? Go tell him already.’ my subconscious, urged impatiently. ‘I know you're eager, but chill’ I cautioned myself. Eventually, I slipped away from the crowd, moving discreetly to the palace entrance.

Unfortunately, guards were stationed at every corner, then again I slid in due to my petite figure. I trailed after his sweet passionate scent which led me up the stairs. I had no time to gush at the amorousness of the palace, so quickly rushed up the curved stairs, then to the hallway.

“Where can he be?” I muttered quietly to myself with my eyes roaming around the long and spacious hallway. ‘Use your nose again, dummy!’ again, my subconscious scowled nastily at me.

Ultimately, I ended up at his doorstep. I gulped down nothing.

I'm about to approach the future Alpha of this great pack-of course I'm bound to be apprehensive. Despite that, I summoned courage then, with my balled fist, knocked gently on the door.

“Come in” said his deep masculine yet brain bursting voice and I could almost feel my legs get wobbly.

The response came surprisingly quick and curt. “Here goes” I pulled up a coquettish smile before pushing the door, revealing Alder, shirtless and unimaginably hot.

“Oh…?” he furrowed an eyebrow with eyes narrowed inquisitively at me. His piercing gaze sent shivers down my spine—heck. My whole soul, to be exact!

“Good day future Alpha” I bowed instinctively only for Alder to snarl at me. “What are you doing here?” He asked, his voice cold and emotionless. For an Alpha this handsome, he had a void in him.

I gulped down emptiness as I faced him fearfully—why can't he feel the atmosphere already? Does he need me to spell out my intentions for him or what?

“Why is he playing unmindful?” I muttered. “What did you say, girl? Can you state your business and fuck off! I hate weak people'' he didn't even try to hide his dislikeness for my kind—yeah. I'm a weak wolf and haven't even gotten a wolf yet; it's quite shameful, huh? Despite that, I'm here regardless, speaking with the strongest wolf in the pack. Isn't my courage admirable?

“Huh? What do you want, Cassy?” he shouted demandingly. “Well…. Alder you see…” I was saying before he cuts in.

“How dare you address me by my first name! So, casually! How impudent!!” he shrieked, now angrily. Swiftly, he strolled and stood right in front of me.

I was amazed—both by his swiftness and sudden change of tone. But his attitude truly got me pissed a little.

“Can you stop acting like an asshole, dude? For fuck’s sake, I'm your mate. Like, how the fuck didn't you even notice it yet!” I bellowed aggressively at him.

Alder went mute, seemingly tongue-tied. Seconds passed by with total silence engulfing us. “Alder?” I held his arm since I thought he didn't hear me right.

Unluckily, I made a mistake because he immediately grabbed hold of my wrist.

“Ouch! Alder!?” I yapped in pain; his grip on my wrist is too tight. I struggled to get it free but it was impossible, comparing how strong he was to me. Was he planning to break it or what?

“Alder!” I cried in pain due to his hesitancy to withdraw his hold. Glancing into his eyes, I met them emotionless and completely expressionless.

“What…did you just say? We're…mates?” he repeated—his tone more frightful. I nodded fearfully, and he smirked dangerously.

“Fucking shit!” Alder suddenly snarled, and he tossed me effortlessly to the other side of the floor. I landed brutally on the floor, bruising my elbow, knees, and even shoulders. I whimpered loudly in pain as I felt hot tears surfacing in my eyes.

“Why? Why did you do that!” I asked with quivering lips. Alder came to stand next to me before squatting on the floor.

He grabbed a handful of my hair, getting a painful wince from me. “Now listen up, you weak piece of shit” he began menacingly. I continued staring into his eyes while he glared hatefully at me.

“You're Cassandra right? Cassy the weak bitch who doesn't even have a wolf. You're too feeble to be my mate, whore! Sadly, the Moon Goddess made a mistake, a mistake which we'll rectify now” He said coldly, his voice void of sympathy or love or excitement or joy that he finally met with me, his mate.

I couldn't comprehend what he's talking about. Rectify it? What the fuck is he talking about?

“What mistake? The Moon Goddess doesn't make…ugh!” I wailed in excessive pain. It was painful, so painful so I bit down on my lower lip as though it would numb the pain for me.

“Shut it slut. Don't ever speak while I'm talking, got that? Now, you'll do what is necessary as I speak!” he instructed while I sniffed mildly.

“I Alder Lewiston rejects you, Cassandra Bellevue, as my mate” He roared angrily at me, his voice filled with hate, disgust and irritation.

My eyes doubled in size as he made that utterance. The surrounding air got so toxic I found it difficult to breathe.

“What…what?” I batted my eyelashes severally and he gritted. “Don't fuck me with, weakling!”

The tears finally rolled down in multiples as my heart shattered into countless pieces. Did…he…. Just…reject me?

“Al… Alder?” I shuttered unbelievably, only for him to stand up. My hair fell all over my face as I cried slowly.

“You know why I'm rejecting you, bitch. So don't act pitiful and accept the rejection, now!” he demanded. “Never!!” I screamed in dissent.

“What?” I asked in disbelief.

“Never! I'll never accept it! I won't! Not only that, but I won't!” I screamed hysterically with a heavy chest. He really believes I'll easily go along with this. No!

Not even if my life's at stake—I won't accept his rejection. Doesn't he know how long I've waited to have a mate? — Somebody who'll care, love, cherish and adore me.

Alder didn't seem fazed by my steadfastness, instead snickered arrogantly. “Oh. You silly bitch. Don't worry. Once I'm done with you, you'll beg for your life to be taken away. Heck! You should have never been born in the first place!” he cackled wickedly. I tried to make a move only to get my ribs kicked violently by Alder.

I got tossed further into the room as the pains surged continuously through my soul. “Please…” I begged with bloody lips and he smiled. “As if” he rolled his eyes before stomping on my stomach violently.

I coughed out blood excessively, yet he didn't stop his callous act.

Trudging painfully towards the penthouse I shared with my parents, my blood left a large trail. Every part of my body was drenched with blood, with my soul, heart, and body totally shattered by Alder.

“Dad…” I whispered weakly before coughing out blood again. I supported myself by placing my hand on the walls and dragged my feet towards the door.

I took a pause at the window, breathing heavily and unsteadily. Both my parents were seated in the living room, looking quite distressed.

“Aren't we going to tell her?” my mother said worriedly. “Tell her? She's quite dense if you ask me. Name anyone of her age that doesn't have a mate. Isn't it quite obvious she's a normal human? After all, she isn't our child”.

“You're correct. It doesn't matter anyway. She's plainly unfortunate” My Father responded.

“Let's not bother ourselves over her, please” She replied and he nodded.

“You're right honey” He said.

My body collapsed helplessly on the floor immediately they concluded their conversation. My heart beat slowed down drastically and for some time, I thought I was dead.

“Am…. Not their child??”

“It's…for the best” came a weak whisper from me as I took another glance at the bottomless cliff. I laid there on the dirty sand at the edge of the cliff with the cold wind caressing my entire body, leaving a trail of goosebumps. I sniveled again, and the tears rolled voluntarily down my cheeks.

“It's for the best. I'm a normal human without anyone who loves me. I can't have a mate…. Since I'm not even a wolf!” I shouted tearfully—it's overly painful to even think of. Just…why me? Why?

Remembering Alder's word, I smiled bitterly—he's right. Why was I even birthed in the first place?

I took a glance at the starry night, then smiled sadly once more before taking my glance to the cliff.

“Moon Goddess, you did me very dirty!” I smiled before letting myself go, falling straight into the cliff as my consciousness slipped from my soul.
