15| A CARING WIFE

"Oh!" I gasped when I fell by his side on the bed. Dice let out a low grunt and I sat up, eyes wide with worry.

"I hurt you, didn't I?" I started, turning around to take off my glasses and set them on the bedside table. I turned back to him right after and caressed his cheek, saying, "Hell, I'm sorry, Dee. Are you okay? Do you need anything?"

He hummed, his face buried in his pillow. "Missed that." His deep voice softened a tad bit.

My eyebrows drew together in confusion as I asked, "What?"

"You called me Dee." He looked up from the pillow now, fast enough to see my cheeks heat up in a deep shade of red. Screw my pale skin, really.

"Oh. Didn't notice." I responded quietly. He just stared at me for a while, before asking,

"Say it again."

"No." I replied, not minding that he was sick and I had to make him happy. He'd lost the right to be my ‘Dee’ when he started this game.
