5| A PROMISE TO RUIN

"... welcome to the start of your worst nightmare."

I gulped and sat back straight. Worst nightmare? Just what kind of grudge did this man hold against me?

After a few seconds, I turned to him again, trying so hard to not look at his fingers or anywhere else that could remind me of that night. He'd probably forgotten about it it anyways. Me? Not so much.

"Why? You were the one who left." I accused. He scoffed, then tilted his head to look at me with those pitch black eyes like I was some pest. I willed myself to keep my eyes on him, even if his eyes spat larva directly on my skin.

"Of course. I reckon it is about this time that I get the blame for leaving my bestfriend behind without saying goodbye?" He asked in a taunting manner. I looked away briefly, fisting my palms to calm my nerves.

"What exactly are you mad about, Dice?" I queried with annoyance, looking at him again. A shiver ran through my spine when I saw that his eyes were still on me.
