It was exactly 9:20 p.m. when I drove out of the hospital, after promising Mr. Thomas I would visit him tomorrow to check on him.

On my way home, I was worried about Amanda. And why haven't my kids called me yet, as I had instructed Amelia?

At least, they should be worried that I'm not yet at home, as I had told them at first that I would return home as soon as possible.

Even if Amanda is now okay, they should be worried about me. Or does it mean that they have lost all the motherly love they had for me?

"God, please let this not be a reality," I prayed inwardly. I was already panicking.
