Jennifer’s entire body trembled uncontrollably, her knees felt like rubber, and fear raced through her heart. She was aware of Alpha Raymond’s notorious reputation for icy and cruel demeanor. People used to speak about him in hushed and fearful tones. Yet, she had always believed that his cold treatment of her was the worst aspect of his behavior until she witnessed him taking a person’s life right before her.

Without a second thought, he ended the maid’s life. Jennifer knew Lina had attempted to harm him, but the brutality with which he took her life was beyond anything she could have imagined. The shock and horror made her shiver inside, causing her to retreat until her back was pressed against the cold instinctively, unyielding wall.

“Jennifer,” Delta Brian called out, pulling her gaze away from one official to the next. She couldn’t comprehend how they could remain so composed. Why didn’t they stop Raymond? It seemed they were no different from him—equally brutal and indifferent.
