Jennifer bit her bottom lip, feeling butterflies in her stomach. How could she feel like this for someone who had just been killed before her? He said it was for her, but could she accept that? Should she stop feeling bad for the maid who had tried to kill her husband?

Terrified but conscious, she noticed him staring at her. Was he trying to comfort her? Was he attempting to make her less scared of him? She almost agreed when he asked if she wanted to see his wolf. However, his injured legs kept him from moving freely, and she couldn’t predict when he would rise and transform. How was she supposed to respond?

“I would love to, but...” She hesitated and averted her gaze.

Seemingly understanding her thoughts, he changed the topic, asking, “What about your wolf? I heard you don’t like to train in your wolf form?”

‘My wolf? How can I show you my wolf? You might hate her,’ she thought.

“What?” he inquired, waiting for an answer.

“I lost connection with my wolf. She must be hiding inside,”
