Chapter four

rugged good looks~

Weeks had passed and today I was going to be able to see Miguel. We also explained to Maria what Sergio and I actually were and afterwards she took it well.  She did ask me about her parents and I explained all that I could in regards to their continued journey. Later Maria let Sergio and I know that Miguel had sustained two severe lacerations, the one on his face and the other across his chest. He also had broken ribs and numerous bruises all over his body. Poor kid got the crap beaten out of him. Today they were removing all of the face bandages and staples in his chest. We had invited Maria to my home and I showed her Miguel's future room (next to mine). We both decorated it with colors he liked and his belongings. I purchased several other items based on his likes for it as well. Surprisingly Maria and Sergio were getting along very well and had gone out a few times already.

I was sitting at my kitchen table drinking my fourth cerveza when Sergio walked in and said Maria called.

"Doctors will be in his room at three so we need to head soon, plus he's getting released," he claimed and I nodded, seeing the time. I guzzled my beer and brushed my hair, putting it up in a top knot. We left and arrived at the hospital ten minutes before three. Maria's smile faltered seeing us approaching.

"Miguel is worried about you seeing him with the large scar down his cheek," she informs me. I chewed on my lip and sighed over the boy's foolish thoughts.

"Let me speak with him privately after they remove the bandages," I mumbled softly and she grinned and nodded. I watched her carefully. I wonder if Miguel told his sister that he liked boys or if she just knew. My thoughts were interrupted by the nurse calling us in. We gathered around a nervous Miguel. The doctor removed all of Miguel's  wrappings around his chest and removed the staples on the foot-long scar that ran across his chest. I smiled at Miguel and he smiled nervously back. He reached out for my hand and I glanced at Maria and she nodded. I held his hand in mine as the doctor began cutting away the thick gauze wrapped around his head. When the last piece fell away my eyes lit up at the sight. Miguel was still a handsome man, the angry red scar complimented his appearance, making him look like a sexy bandit I had a strong desire to fuck. I must have said that last part

out loud because Miguel was looking at me with his mouth hanging open. Maria and Sergio were eyeing me strangely. I looked over at them and Sergio was grinning slightly and Maria looked back and forth between us.

"Miguel, is there something that you want to tell me about yourself," she mumbled softly and Miguel cleared his throat.

"I um like, like Sebastian sis, I like boys and have since middle school," he claimed and Maria inhaled softly and didn't say anything. Sergio eyed me questionably and I shrugged and nodded. He laughed abruptly and everyone glanced at him.

"Well I think that Sergio and I should give you both some privacy," Maria stated and stood, grabbing Sergio's hand and pulling him out of the room behind the doctor and nurses. I felt Miguel pulling on my hand he held.

"Give me a kiss, my personal hero," he chuckled and our lips molded together perfectly. I pressed firmly and heard Miguel wince. I sat back and frowned.

"I don't want to hurt you Miguel, I think it's best for us to chill out a bit," I rambled and he agreed reluctantly.

"Can you help me stand to go to the restroom to see my face please," he asked me. I wrapped my arm around his upper body and carefully helped him to stand. I held him as he wobbled towards the bathroom. When he stood in front of the mirror, I brushed his long bangs out of his eyes so he could see better.

"It looks horrible," he sighed, running his fingers down the puckered skin.

"It's really not that bad, I was serious about what I said," I mumbled and smirked. His stern green eyes landed on me through his reflection in the mirror.

"You outed me to my sister and she surprisingly took it well." I shrugged and grinned.

"You're also going to be living in my home, your sister and I fixed up a room for you." Miguel's mouth dropped open and he smiled.

"I think I'd like to be discharged immediately then," he laughed and headed back to his bed. I inhaled deeply and followed him back into his room. A nurse entered and told Miguel that the doctor was preparing his discharge papers and that he could get himself dressed. He thanked her and frowned.

"They cut my clothes off me when I got here," he sighed. I smiled, liking the thought of cutting away his clothing.

"I'll get you something to wear, hold tight," I chuckled and quickly left for my mission.

I asked Sergio for the car keys and he eyed me questionably while tipping his hand to his mouth pretending to drink. He was referring to me earlier. I rolled my eyes, I only had four beers.

"Fine, drive me to get clothes for Miguel so I can take him home with me," I said simply. Maria smiled and said she would stay with her brother, saying she wanted to speak privately with him. I watched her as I followed Sergio and prayed she'd accept Miguel and his lifestyle choices. Sergio and I drove to the stupid mall. I despised malls and cursed at him as we exited the car. We entered a sports store and I purchased basketball shorts, a t-shirt and socks and a pair of size twelve Adidas.

"Let's hurry back," I mumbled and Sergio rushed after me.

"I didn't get any underwear," I sighed.

"He can free ball it to the house, it won't kill him and I doubt if he is hung longer than the shorts," Sergio teased and I chuckled. very well, I mumbled softly. We got back to the hospital and entered Miguel's room to see both siblings in tears and hugging each other. Maria wiped her eyes and smiled at us. I tossed the bag onto the bed and Miguel wiped his eyes and blew his nose before rummaging through the sack.

"I forgot underwear," I blurted out and he smiled and told me he had his old ones. He wobbled to the bathroom to change and Maria headed towards me.

"I know that you are Death and that concerned me until I realized that you saved my brother's life, not once but twice. Continue to watch over Miguel and I will accept your relationship with him," she told me with a grin.

"You do need to tell him what you are though," she added firmly. I nodded and grabbed her into a hug.

"I'm going to be your brother in law in about two years, if not sooner, mark my word," I mumbled softly in her ear and she laughed and playfully hit my side.

"You act like the two of you are hopelessly in love," she giggled and my face dropped to a frown.

"No one mentioned that God awful word or feeling, love is for suckers and morons," I growled and watched Miguel exit the bathroom. My eyes scanned over him completely and a smile crept to my face.

"You're an idiot Sebastian," Maria laughed and shook her head at me. I didn't care what she said. I was drawn to Miguel and the glimmer in his bright green eyes. I headed in front of him and squeezed both his hands. He flipped his hair out of his eyes. I'd offer to trim his hair at home.

"The clothes fit nicely," I said simply and he smiled back at me.

"Still need to get the shoes on," he claimed and looked for a chair to sit down on.

"I'll let the desk know that you're ready to go," Maria said and left the room. I helped Miguel lace up the new shoes. The nurse came in with his paperwork when he got finished with his shoes. Soon the four of us were on the road and headed towards my home. Miguel and I sat together in the back seat holding each other's hand.

"So Sebastian, does your house have a swimming pool," he asked me. I nodded and explained that it wasn't filled at the moment because I never stayed long enough to enjoy it. He looked at me a little concerned.

"I'm not leaving unless you come with me," I told him and squeezed his hand. He smiled back at me.

"I don't know if you remember what happened the first time I visited your home and what I am, um, I'm Death and I'm immortal," I stated firmly and watched an array of emotions cross his eyes.

"What does that even mean, you kill people and cannot die," he asked incredulously. I bit my lip and sighed.

"I just exist for death, I can kill but rarely do, it's very difficult to explain but I know how everyone will leave this existence except for you, I only know when you won't perish because you're my soulmate," I mumbled softly. He eyed me questionably and glanced out the window, avoiding my eyes. He exhaled harshly and leaned back against the seat.

"Alright Sebastian, you're Death and my soulmate. Does that make me Life," he asked curiously. I bit my lip and chuckled, it couldn't be that simple, I highly doubted that. I side eyed him and grinned.

"I don't know Miguel, and the fates won't tell me so I guess we'll just have to remain together to find out," I mumbled and Miguel nodded. We pulled up my driveway and I watched Miguel's eyes widen at the sight of my huge home.

"Mi casa es tu casa, seriously enjoy yourselves, " I told him and his sister. He quickly exited the car and walked around the wrap around deck to look at the outside of the house.

"Miguel is intrigued by architecture," Maria said and I grinned, knowing that the place was designed by a famous architect. I got out and headed after him with a grin on my face. I watched his eyes inspect each nook and cranny.

"This is a stunning structure, Sebastian," he told me and I nodded in agreement. He smiled at me and said he was ready for the indoor tour. I grabbed his hand and pulled him through the side glass doors. I showed him the kitchen, living room, entertainment room and lastly I walked him into his room and watched him tear up. He turned and laid his head on my shoulder.

"I can't believe you did all this for me, it's perfect," he mumbled.

"Your sister helped to make it perfect for you. I'm really glad you like it. Also, if you ever need anything, I'm right next door, out that door and to the right," I replied. Miguel eyed me lustfully and caused my heart to flutter. I knew it was real because he'd been off the drugs.

"Your eyes are beautiful Sebastian," he told me seductively and I actually blushed.

"Are you trying to seduce Death, Miguel," I questioned him with a raised brow. He grinned slightly and looked down.

"I think I've failed if you're questioning me, but I really do think your eye color is pretty," he said softly. I bit my lip and sighed as Fur Elise filled the space. I pulled out my phone and saw Amber's name. I frowned and answered. Miguel's eyes lowered hearing me say Amber. He sighed and left his room to head back to the others. Amber wanted to know how my soulmate was doing and I told her great until she called. Sorry honey for being a cock block, she laughed playfully and ended the call. I growled and rushed to the kitchen after my jealous mate.
