Chapter 65:

RYAN

It was a hot, sunny day in California, I was lying by the pool with a magazine on my face. Tom and Logan were playing chess by the front porch yelling and screaming out their lungs over their losses at the game.

They’d been swimming all morning and just when they both ran out of gas, they hooked up to chess.

A couple of hours later on, they ran up to the bench where I was. I heard them before I saw them, as they walked up the stairs cracking up over how Logan had lost to Tom after a particularly ferocious round.

Tom strolled over to me, lifted the sweaty magazine from my face, and grinned. And then he bent looking straight into my eyes, “You have something you’d like to tell us, Ryan?” He said.

I squinted up at him, holding my hands up to my face shielding my face from the sun.

“Why would you say that?” I asked as I grabbed the magazine pulling it back to my face as I laid back.

I was already having a bad day from not having to respond to all of her texts the whole week.
