Boma didn’t give much thought to her response to Roland’s acceptance of her. She knew the natural response she had to give.“Thank you, Sir,” she said. She didn’t see what else she could say. Donovan - 47 At Boma's revelation about her father's interest in the position of permanent secretary, a smile slightly widened Ronald's lips. His eyes stayed intent upon hers, reminding her of Donovan. The man's charisma was staggering. No wonder he was Donovan's idol. Donovan was studying her face as she interracted with his grandfather, his expression, neutral but she knew that his ears were attentive. "Your boyfriend here has been telling me about giving him my slot. I had someone else in mind but since he mentioned your father, I have been considering submitting his name to the governor. Still I could not do that without first meeting you for your consent." Boma's eyes rounded in surprise, hér gaze riveted between the two.But she was speechless. Donovan continued his speech as she pensively listened to him, unable to take her eyes off him. Most times, Boma often caught herself staring at him or stealing glances at him. She knew it was due to his attractive looks. If she had met him on a normal ground, she knew that she would have fallen for him on sight, but unfortunately, it didn't happen that way. Yet even as she marveled at his looks, she was scared of him at the same time because of how he was. If they had met on normal grounds, even with his looks and money, the knowledge that he was in a fraternity would have sent her running away from him, just like she was already planning to do now. Boma, exhausted by Donovan's attentions fell asleep in no distant time. She eventually woke up several times during the night to find Donovan asleep.
