It was almost amusing how much at home I felt trapped inside the cell. The memories of my past washed over me like a hurricane.

Perhaps Titus made this decision to prove to me how good I had it now, compared to what I used to have? Sure, there was a possibility that he told me the truth and actually locked me here to make sure I didn’t run, but there was no way for me to read his mind.

“Do you need anything? Food, drink, a blanket perhaps? Anything, really, I’ll get it,” one of the guards spoke up.

I glanced in their direction and forced a weak smile. “No, thank you.”

Both men exchanged quick glances and shrugged. All I wanted was to be left alone with my thoughts while true to their word, the guards tried their best to start a conversation.

“How old are you?”

“What is your favorite color?”

“Do you have any hobbies? My kids love to draw and sing.”

“Yes, hobbies are awesome! I don’t have kids yet, but I love fishing.”
