What? No, that couldn’t possibly be happening. Richard was lying, trying to trick me into doing what he had planned. He had to have alternate intentions.

No matter what his reasons were for such vile actions, I couldn’t believe that Lucius was dying.

The vicious King, the monster in the shadows, the unseen creature - he couldn’t be dying.

Would the Moon Goddess be so vile and keep torturing me? It really didn’t matter that I was confused or how I felt about the man - he claimed he was my mate. I couldn’t believe that I already lost one because of his selfish nature and now, I was about to lose the man who cared?

I wouldn’t allow that to happen. No.

While I was stuck in my thoughts, Richard managed to break the lock and open the cell door. A victorious smile spread across his lips, and while he thought he had done something impressive, I thought the same, but for different reasons.

As soon as I saw the chance, I brushed past him and ran toward the staircase.

I'm annoyed she's staying. He calls her his property, demands she sit in his lap the first day she met him, etc. He doesn't trust her but wants her to fully trust him and he's not being honest either. She should leave, it's annoying that she is changing her mind again. I can't finish this book now.
