Luke's anger slowly dissipated as he saw Ava's distress. He gathered her into his arms, holding her close as she sobbed uncontrollably.

"Ava, my love, it's alright," he whispered, his voice soft and soothing. "I'm here for you. You're safe now."

Ava's tears only seemed to intensify, her body shaking with grief. "I'm so sorry, Luke," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I broke in front of him. I felt so weak around him."

Luke's hold on her tightened, his arms wrapping around her like a shield. "You're not weak, Ava," he said, his voice firm and reassuring. "You're strong and brave. You faced your demons head-on, and that takes courage."

Ava's sobs slowly subsided, her tears drying on Luke's chest. She looked up at him, her eyes red and puffy. "But why do I still feel so vulnerable around him?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
