OLD HABITS NEVER DIE

Sylvia ran out of the lounge crying profusely. The confused Derrick went after her. He was stunned when David hurried past him with his waist belt in his hands.

Sylvia got to the car and wiped her tears with the edge of her palms. When she saw David coming toward her, she folded her arms across her chest and cast an angry stare at him.

David knew that getting closer to her was going to be detrimental so he remained feet away and looked up at her with an apologetic face.

“Old habits never die huh?” Sylvia blurted.

Derrick was standing behind David.

David looked into her hazel eyes. They were dripping with tears, birthed by pain.

“I'm sorry!” was all he could say.

“You don't owe me any goddamn apology, David. I owe myself that. I should have known better.” she said and gazed at him with disgust.

David felt his heart shattering into pieces. The way she had looked at him made him feel filthy, adding to his guilt.

Sylvia then turned away and pulled the car door open. She stepped in
