A tall man leaned against a tree, his fit body accentuated by the black-and-white striped designer clothes he wore. He didn’t smile, but the contours of his face were soft. The mole on his right ear was striking. Charlotte looked at him, dumbfounded. This emperor-like man should have been surrounded by an army of people. But for her, he was willing to stand alone in this quiet corner.

She was carrying this man’s baby.

He had accepted her faults and fulfilled all her wishes.

“What’s wrong?” Derek asked gently, noticing Charlotte looked a little depressed.

Charlotte shook her head without saying a word.

The words "I love you" stuck in her throat.

“Is it because you’re too tired from the gathering?” Derek looked her up and down. He noticed the cuts on her legs, and his pupils dilated in anger. “What happened?”

Abigail was about to explain when Charlotte cut in, “Derek, let’s go home.”
