Chapter thirty-one

Abbigail

Beth and I were being released from the hospital after getting into a car accident last night. Shawn broke her arm, protecting me from an airbag and swerved the car to avoid the full force of the impact. Both of our babies are fine and lucky to not have lost them.

I haven't heard from my mother since she apologized and left my hospital room. I ask Shawn to call her for me and she did, even though she was still mad at her. I wanted to tell her my reasons for wanting the implants and hopefully she could understand.

I was in the middle of taking a bath when there was a soft knock on the door. "Come in," I say quietly and moments later I could smell both my mother and Shawn's perfume. "Shawn, can you help me out? I feel a little dizzy."

"I'll get Melanie, she'll be able to carry you to bed from the tub," she says softly and I nod. "If I hear her become stressed with you here, you'll be leaving."

"I understand," my mother chokes quietly.
