Celeste's POVIt has been a long while since I have walked amongst the green grass of American soil. This was where I was born and bred. I lived my young life through to my twenties until I was summoned into the god realm to become the goddess I am today.I forgot how the pine smelled so real or the grass was soft beneath my feet until I found debris such as twigs and stones. The rain has just fallen, leaving the sweetest earthy smell behind, like some sort of mother natures fragrance that I hadn't smelt in so long. This is the real world, the natural world, unlike home.Home is fake, created by us gods and goddesses to have someplace to call home when in fact, we all miss the places we were born from.Mine is here, not far from the very place I am visiting today.Hati's pack still resides on the same land, much small in size but nevertheless ok the same ground.I pass the borders long before my people come to seek out the trespasser.I think, other than Lilith, this is the first human
Celeste’s POVTime stands still around us as we stare at one another in angst. There lies the man I chose for Hati in this lifetime. The son of his last host.He looks well, muscular built, yet his eyes lack something that his other hosts held.He doesn’t look crazed and angry. Instead, he seems sad and anguished. The look does not suit him, yet that is his look, and it somehow sits perfectly on his face.“Celeste…” Hati speaks through his host. His voice is low and menacing, precisely as I remember his voice to be.“Hati, must you keep me standing here in the cold? Aren’t you going to invite me in…”“What do you want?” He asks.“To talk. It’s been an awfully long while, my friend.”“It has; the cycles have passed by in a blur… you best come in then. I’ll have someone make some tea if that is still palatable for you.”“I’m not thirsty,” I announce, walking up the steps into the house. Pushing past Hati’s host, his warm skin snapped the life out of me in the briefest of touches. The th
Lilith's POVI feel the trespassing human cross over from Damian's land to our own the very second it happens. Theo's alpha abilities have slowly been sharing themselves with Khai and me, and they are becoming stronger by the day. It's a weird feeling. A sudden pit in the very bottom of my stomach and the most immense urge to protect those living in the surrounding land almost overwhelming me to the point I want to cry.The three of us mind-link one another, planning on halting the person out by the borders to protect the pack members.Khai agrees to run in Obsidian's form from the east and Theo runs here from the centre, and finally, Lucas comes from his house out on the western borders. Our bond is strengthening by the day, and our ability to run this pack together — the three of us in harmony is something to behold. I never saw myself ruling anyone, but the thought of standing beside Theo, making sure his pack members are well and safe, gives me some type of thrill I never expect
Khai’s POVBeing left alone in a room with the two people that created not only the man that caused me so much pain but also the girl that I have been in love with for eternity is unnerving. Here stand two gods that we have been tight to follow implicitly that they should be worshipped for all they have and will do for us.The sounds coming from the bedroom are… embarrassing. Lilith is surely engaging in a sexual act with Theo, and despite the fact that we have guests, they are not being noiseless about it.“Drink?” I offer, though I don’t particularly know what we have to offer.“No, thank you, Khai. So, where is the child?” Celeste asks, looking around the house inquisitively.“Lilith?” “No, Tobias. The prognosticate.”“What does that mean?” I ask.“He’s your prophecy. He has been sent down from my realm to lead you through the path that has been chosen for you.”“That’s enough, Celeste. It is not time for him to be guided.” Theseus stops her from talking anymore.I stare between
Thirteen Years Ago Damian's POV Onyx made me lock Lilith down in those horrid dungeons yet again. This time she had merely looked at Khai a little too closely, but if I'm honest, he read far too deeply into her actions as he usually does. Khai always helps Lilith and many of the other kids after such a long bout of punishment in the dark with no food, water or use of property bathrooms. He washes them, feeds them and nurses them back to full health, only for Onyx to deplete them at some point again. It is a routine I am far from fond of, yet one that is ingrained in my internal schedule. Anyway. We were eating dinner, and as usual, they were sitting next to one another to my right as some of the other kids sat around the table too. I asked Lilith if she was enjoying the food as I had made her her favourite spaghetti dish, a way to say sorry despite not being able to say the words, and unfortunately, she had turned to Khai for reassurance to speak to us. The poor girl never kno
Lilith's POVI'm six years old again, and I'm sitting at the dining room table next to Khai as I eat the first hot meal I've had in weeks. Everything is overwhelming. The smells, sound, light and even the brightly covered walls that threaten to swallow me whole.I hate sitting in this room, around this huge table where I am made to eat food I cannot stomach because my tummy's too hungry to actually eat.On the plate in front of me sits my favourite cheesy spaghetti with the little squares of bacon that make the dish all the better. I'm distractedly swirling the fork in the spaghetti, making the healthiest loaded fork, when Damian asks me if I'm enjoying the food.I don't know what to do if I should answer him, so I do what I always do. I look to Khai for an answer.Damian doesn't know, but I can mind-link Khai.Apparently, I shouldn't be able to because I don't have my Wolf yet, but I randomly started doing it last year, and now I'm not so lonely down in the dungeons because I can s
Theo's POVLilith's bad dream is one of many that I've relieved with her in recent months. They all start out the same. Damian sits across from her, and they are enjoying a meal or watching the tv. Mundane things we do to pass our time here on earth. Then he snaps, seemingly out of nowhere. He becomes crazed and violent before locking her down into the darkness, where she sits alone for however long he deems necessary. To say it is unsettling to watch what she went through would be an understatement. How any man could do those things to a child, or more than one child, infringes on humanity. I'm unable to get back to sleep like the pair of them, so I roll onto my side, staring at Lilith's now serene sleeping form and then at Khai's constantly troubled expression. Even in sleep, he is unable to school his emotions. I suppose one would claim he wears his heart on his sleeve, you know, because his emotion is unmistakable. The night passes by whilst I look to the ceiling for an answer
Lilith's POVI skip breakfast to go for a walk within the protection of the trees.Last night's sleep was for fall and full of bad dreams after bad dreams, but amongst those dreams, I came to a very realisation: I haven't spoken to Abyss in a long time.I need help pinpointing the exact amount of days. Though I can remember she was encouraging me to fight Damian off, but soon after, she disappeared, and I hadn't noticed she had gone.I was too preoccupied, and I feel... empty, lonely, uninhabited even.I hadn't noticed how used to having her around before. It was as if she were my best friend and confidant; now she's just gone. Poof. Will I ever speak to her again?Did she disappear for a reason? Can you lose your wolf??My walk does nothing for my mood; it sours with the thoughts that I'll be alone for eternity without the wolf I was bonded to. As I walk past the western borders, I see the patrol wolves. Their fur sways in the wind, and the vision bring another wave of belonging ri
