POV

This morning I got a call from Beckett’s brother Axel, the police officer. He told me Sadie cried herself to sleep in the hospital last night, he asked me to check on her. He had to carry her from the hospital to her apartment. He then went on to complain about having to please explain to her apartments security guards and only after showing them his ID and badge and they even called the station just to make sure he worked there.

I had to listen to him for an hour just go on and on and on, I think at some point I just started blocking him out. which was why I was standing in front of Sadie’s apartment. I take out my keys to her apartment out of my purse. I unlock her door, I then press my finger to her fingerprint scanner. It denied access. I roll my eyes and enter her pin in the keypad.

This place was worse than Fort Knox. When the door opens, I notice how dark the apartment is. I flick on the lights. I gasp the place looks like a dump. I take a deep breat
