Her Real Self

Rosetta writhing on the bed. Feeling a warm breeze from the summer sun coming through the bedroom window. The curtains of that expensive fabric had already been opened. Become a natural wake-up call.

Still writhing and growling for a while, Rosetta gets ready to sit down. Her half-closed eyes flicked, and then she saw the daily scene in his room.

“Is My Lady awake? I’ve asked Anna to prepare breakfast. Would you like to take a shower right after?“ asked a series waiter named Flora. The girl with freckles on her cheek was already standing next to the bed.

 “Yes,” replied Rosetta.

Then, two other servants, Karen and Silvia stepped out of the bathroom and stood at the front of the bed. They’re bowing.

“The hot water will soon be filled. What fragrance you need today?” asked Karen.

“Lavender, roses, and vanilla have been quite popular lately,” Silvia adds.

“Just the roses.“ Rosetta answered. Her eyes rolled to the gaze of her maid bending again before returning to the bathroom.

Now the door to her room is open. Anna walked in, pushing an aluminum table filled with breakfast. Meanwhile, Flora placed a small table on Rosetta’s lap. In turn, the two maids set up breakfast and put a napkin on Rosetta’s lap.

As Marquess’s daughter, Rosetta quite enjoys all this service. Her mother had long since died, and Rosetta was treated as the leading Lady of the Halstead Family and heiress to the title as Marchioness.

 “Please enjoy,” Flora said.

Rosetta pays attention to the breakfast menu. Two slices of bread with sunny-side-up eggs, three toasted sausage beef, and a small bowl of salad. Well, this time Rosetta didn’t want to mess her maid with this complaint.

After finishing breakfast peacefully, Rosetta got out of bed. She stood at the bathroom door while Flora and Karen helped her take off the flimsy silk bed.

“Perhaps after becoming a Duchess, I get more services than this, too. But it’s worth it considering the weight of the duty and responsibility,“ Rosetta thought.

That brown-eyed woman was enjoying the Karen and Silvia massage on her limbs. Each massage eliminates the aches caused by performing housework while attending a social event.

After spending an hour soaking and massaging, Rosetta comes out of the bathroom in her fragrant rose on every inch of her soft skin. Perfect makes a Rosetta like its nickname: Red Rose from the North Ice Mountain.

“Oww!” Rosetta shouted, it overstated the pitch because Anna was too strong to pull the corset line. Made Rosetta felt choked.

“S–Sorry, My Lady,” Anna said timidly. Instantly speeding up the corset hitch.

After a long process of wearing a polyester pink dress of silk and cotton, Rosetta stands in front of the mirror. At first, she seemed dissatisfied with her appearance but was too reluctant to change her clothes.

Rosetta leaves the room with Flora. A pile of household care duties that should be the responsibility of a Marchioness is waiting in the workroom.

“Lady Rosetta.” A servant approached when Rosetta was about to enter the workroom.

 “What’s wrong?“ Rosetta turns around.

“Lord Marquess has called you to his room,” the maid said.

Rosetta fell silent for a moment and then sighed briefly. She nodded, discontinuing her thoughts toward the workroom and immediately extended her way to the father’s nearby room.

The large door of old oak with a surface filled with carvings of the well-trained sculptor in the Aelton was suffocating. Rosetta’s been tortured over and now she has to do the same thing again.

Rosetta justifies the rhythm of the breath, calms feelings, and clears the mind. With this hot blood flowing inside, it’s not hard for Rosetta to lose emotions. However, this time Rosetta doesn’t want to get into the rage.

 Knock, knock.

Rosetta's hand trembles softly. She makes a fist so that she does not hesitate.

“This is Rosetta, Father,” said her softly.

“Come in,” her father answered from the inside. The sound is heavy and cold like pale marble in the front of the castle.

Rosetta pushed the wooden door down slowly. Along with an uncontrollable heartbeat. Breathing heavily, Rosetta sees the father, George Halstead, starring out the window.

“Sit down, My Daughter,” said Lord George and turned around. The aging, stern, cold face was very similar to the Rosetta. Especially when their foreheads are wrinkled.

Rosetta puts the face flat and quiet. Whatever her father may say, she will not fall prey to emotions.

“Your marriage to Lucas was pushed back too long. Don’t you think when is the right time? If you continue to turn back, let me take care of the wedding!” said Lord George. Looking straight his first daughter.

Rosetta started back as if she wasn’t afraid at all.

“I was only twenty years old, Father. The duties of the castle were much unfinished. That's a priority now. I believe Lucas was in the same way,“ replied Rosetta.

Prominent veins on the temple Lord George. It’s a common custom that girls in Aelton get married under twenty. More is often a matter of gossip or disgrace.

And Rosetta was desperate to get engaged to Lucas just because they were childhood friends. Mark Grasswall and Duchy Riverdale are two adjacent areas.

“You are not interested in continuing the title, but you are not eager to become your future Duchess either. What do you want?” shouted Lord George. He clenched his hands until his knuckles turned white.

Rosetta got quiet. It wasn’t for no reason that she insisted on sticking around until she was twenty. If Rosetta does not take good care of the castle until twenty-one, there will be havoc on the Marquess family.

“Just till my birthday, Father,” says Rosetta. Keep the tone quiet, “After that, I'll get married. To bring honor for name Marquess Grasswall, and to myself.”

Lord George sighed and looked away. He massages the soft part of the nose with his right hand.

 “Okay,” said Lord George.

Rosetta got up from sitting down. Her legs were bent backward and curtsied majestically. “Then excuse me.”

The red-haired woman immediately turned around and stepped wide across the workroom. She pulled the oak door with all her might and slammed it behind her back.

Rosetta’s breath gasps. She wasn’t even on a horse. Yet her chest was filled. Rosetta looked around, saw her few maids waiting for her. But her breath still not fine.

The tightness in her chest was further stifling. Then a seizure of dizziness hits the head like a hurricane.

“Arrgghhh!” Rosetta screamed and gripping her hair. Increased pain in the head and became excruciating.
