Chapter XXIV

Danielle could almost hear her heartbeat. Every time Lucas' fingers would touch her skin, she would feel some sort of electric current flowing through her veins.

'What is going on? Why am I feeling this way?' 

"What were you doing in that place, Dana?" Lucas looked up to her when he was done putting an ointment on her left foot. 

Although Danie fell on Lucas' body, she still hurt her foot. It was nothing serious, just a bruise. But Lucas insisted they put something to relieve the pain. And that's why when they came back to her unit, he immediately attended to it gently.

And that gesture left Danie dumbfounded and confused. Why would Lucas be concern about her?

"I don't remember approving any leave of absence. Did you file any?"

"I wasn't feeling well this morning. I asked Ace and Drew if I can take an afternoon leave," she looked away from his inquisitive gaze. "I was hungry and I wanted to eat in that restaurant."
