Ethan:

The sweet smell of freshly brewed coffee filled my nostrils as I stepped into my office.

My assistant who was following closely behind me, placed the mug on the table as I took my seat.

"Thanks," I smiled at her and she gave me a polite smile in return and returned to her station outside my office.
