Chapter 11 The Ceremony

After getting dressed I waited patiently in the room, Xander and I were not allowed to see each other before the ceremony.

I was feeling jittery, the high slit of my dress was making me uncomfortable, but I was excited too. I wanted Xander to see me in this dress, I wanted his appreciation.

After what felt like a century, Aunt Mary came, she smiled at me and for a second I started missing my mother.

This was supposed to be her right, but maybe in another life or in another world, I will have her by my side.

A lone tear rolled down my eyes, but I wiped it down before Aunt could notice it, but she saw it nevertheless.

“Don’t shed tears, my child, this is a happy occasion.” she patted on my shoulder.

We both left the room and headed toward the gathering.

“Only tears that should be in your eyes today should be of pleasure,” she whispered as we entered the hall.

My eyes widened at her and she winked at me.
