CHAPTER 12

CASSANDRA

"This is where you live?" Jenny asked when the car slowed down while the gate to the mansion slowly opened.

"Yes! You will like it there. And the people living with us are all kind, unlike in the Rivera's residence. I stepped out of the car when it stopped in the garage. Jenny followed behind me nervously.

"We will carry your bag, Jenny." Billy offered.

"Thank you." Billy smiled and nodded in response. I held Jenny's hand and led her to the front.

"Aunt Amara is living here as well?"

"Yes."

"I'm home," I called out.

"Welcome home, dear." Mama gritted and pulled me in a hug.

"Ma, look who's here," I excitedly said, smiling.

"Jenny? Why are you here? What happened, and why do you look like you haven't slept?" She hugged Jenny, who burst into tears. Mama is the mother figure of all the young helpers at the Rivera's residence.

"Christina fired me the other day, and since I don't have a place to stay, I slept on the street last night."

"What? Thank god nothing bad
