CHAPTER FIVE

Howard was so shocked to see Selena at his office, "fuck" he growled as he kicked his chair.

He had been with her long enough to know just what she must have thought of the situation. He hoped she wasn't the one who had been chosen to be his secretary. That would put him in an even more difficult situation he called Mr. John and just as he had thought. Selene had been selected.

"Did she turn down the offer? "he asked in hopes that she had refused to work there after seeing him, not in a million years did he ever think this was going to happen, What was she even doing in California I ln the first place?

"No sir, is anything the problem?" Mr. John asked.

"No it's nothing," he said and hung up the call.

She thinks he had her followed on that day, he wouldn't fire her or it was going to make it appear petty.

Today was one of the days where he had to be with Evelyn but for some unknown reasons, he is reluctant. He reaches her place and Evelyn wasn't home. How dare she break the rules of this contract. She was going to pay for making him drive such a long distance without leaving a message it was against the rules, she should have at least let him know she would be going somewhere, she had no excuse anyway cause the contract was fair enough, there were seven days in a week and she had five days to do whatever she needed those two days were hi that was what he was paying her for.

He angrily gets back in his car "take me home" he instructed William his driver.

"Sir, which root should I take?" William asked, he contemplated going the same route as the other day but didn't want to appear like he was stalking him, they were going to meet in the office on Monday and he hoped she didn't question his actions.

He couldn't help but think about Selena and couldn't wait for Monday.

He went to the office late today despite how much he had waited for it to come. He groaned as he checked his time.

"Fuck I am late", how was Selena going to ever take him seriously after this.

He picked up a black suit and lays his hair backward, he put on a list of his expensive collection of perfumes and headed to the car, he didn't even bother having breakfast as he was reminded by his maid. He grabbed a toasted bread and a cup of coffee and headed straight to his office. They have never seen their boss wake up late in the morning and he never misses breakfast.

"What's wrong with him?" they murmured among themselves as they watch his car zoom off.

He arrived at the office and went straight to the secretary's desk even though John tried to stop him and explain that the girl they hired wasn't at work yet.

"He was surprised when he got to the desk and an empty chair was there "was this how she was going to do this job, "he thought.

" I tried explaining sir" a voice from behind him said panting he must have hurried to reach before he got there. Mr. John was scared for his job.

"What do you mean by she isn't here yet, he reached for his watch and it was a few minutes past eleven.

" What time was she supposed to be here," he asked.

"By 8 am sir," Mr. John said shivering he was scared and didn't want to lose his job, his daughter was critically ill, and if he gets this month's salary then he would be able to pay her hospital bills. He was scared cause he knew just how much Howard don't play about his company which wasn't bad but stressed the workers out, they always needed to be extremely careful and not step on his toes.

"You had just one job, Mr. John, employ a secretary in a whole month and this is all you could do". He knew it wasn't M...r Johns's fault but he had to keep things professional. She must have probably changed her mind which made him a little bit happy but his little happiness was crashed. When he saw another rape happen on tv.

That was the same area he had rescued Selena from those bad guys.

He rushes out of the office and asks for her address it must have been included in her CV.

He reaches the address and knocks on the door but there was no response.

"Where could she have gone, "he thought. His heart started beating fast which irritated him, there was no way this was happening to him. He was informed by her neighbors that she hasn't been home for three nights which made history

worse. It could have been something different but for some reason, he could tell something was wrong.

He was sure she had no friends yet, so there could see be. He immediately recalls one of the faces of the guys from that night.

He regretted letting them go that night, how stupid of him to think they weren't going to look for her, they probably would,d, especially since she had been saved by a billionaire who was also famous.

They had been waiting for him to come to

save her this time, he was their target now and not Selena.

" Fuck !!!" he yells.

He suddenly gets a phone call from them.

"We were thinking you wouldn't come around ."

"Let the girl go," he commanded.

"We won't do that until you bring the sum of two billion dollars, if you want to save the girl then do just that." the man said.

"You must have forgotten you are speaking with Howard Turner, if you do not let that gift go then I promise to wipe all your families," he said and hung up.

He reaches the address only to find Selena sitting there scared and helpless, why would they have to do this to her, once again he felt all he brought into her life was pain.
