Panic

The just-risen sun shone softly on the city streets as Carmen stared out of the car window with a frown on her lips.

“Do you want me to get securities to remove them?” Dax gently asked when he noticed the frustration on her face.

“No. This is exactly what our parents wanted when they released the information about our marriage to the news media a week ago. And I can continuously try to avoid those reporters, but that doesn't change the fact that we are getting married two weeks from now.” Carmen said. Even though she tried to keep her voice normal as possible, Dax could still hear the anger, sadness, and disappointment in her words.

“Is this what you want?” He asked while staring straight into her eyes.

There was confusion in Carmen's gaze for a second. Then she broke eye contact with him and mumbled, “What are you talking about?”

“Is marrying me what you want, Carm?” Dax firmly asked.
