The first place Dax went when he arrived in the country was Carmen’s villa since he had spent the entire night tossing in bed and wondering if he might have overreacted during their conversation.
As he stood patiently at the door, it took a moment of hesitation for him to finally knock. But Dax got no response, so he repeatedly knocked and after banging several times on the door, he stopped and deeply inhaled to quench his anger.
Then Dax took out his phone, dial Carmen's number, and listened to it ring while he paced back and forth, striving not to let anger cloud his judgment.
“The number you have called has not answer, please try again.”
Dax quivered with frustration as those words repeated in his ear countless times as he continuously c

The first light of dawn met Carmen standing before her dresser mirror, holding her hair in a tight ponytail. Then she smiled at her reflection before grabbing her purse and hurrying out of her room. After Carmen had walked out of the front door and approached her car, she slowly stopped in her tracks as her lashes blinked uncontrollably while she slowly rubbed her index finger behind her ear.“I called you multiple times yesterday. Why didn't you answer my call?” Dax calmly said without losing eye contact with Carmen. The stress his stare caused her only grew more uncomfortable by the second. So she looked down at her hands and attempted to slow her breathing. But still, Carmen felt frozen and unable to speak since she could feel his eyes on her.“You are back with him, right?” Dax asked with annoyance mixed with anger in his tone even though his voice sounded calm.At this point, what Carmen felt was a deep sense of guilt and remorse that she couldn't
After they arrived at Liam's villa, the first thing that caught Carmen’s attention was the numerous empty wine bottles scattered around the house as she helped Liam to his room. However, what left Carmen stunned was the number of bottles she saw in the bedroom.“When did you become such an alcoholic?” Carmen mumbled beneath her breath while staring at Liam in disbelief.Although she didn't want to bring it up, there was too much empty wine bottle for Carmen to ignore.“Well, someone left me and my heart broken, so what was I supposed to do? Not drink?” Liam teasingly replied.“Maybe if you didn't sleep with Ali, I wouldn't have.” Carmen lashed out before she could get a hold of her tongue.“Are you good?”“No, I'm not.”“Carm, I was just kidding. I know that I am at fault for where we are now, and I am so sorry for that.”With tears beaming in Carmen's eyes, she walked away from Liam, approached the bed, and sat down.“No,
As the first light of a new day crept into the room, Carmen’s hand brushed Liam's side of the bed, and after feeling the sheets for him, she slowly raised her eyelids, and sleepy stared at his board back.“Why are you up so early?” Carmen asked as she gently rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.In a rush, Liam pulled his shirt over his wound, turned around, and stared back at her as his face softened into a smile.“How bad is it?” Carmen asked, looking at him with a serious expression.“Ummm, my wounds are healing pretty well,” Liam replied while avoiding her gaze.“Can I see?”“Ahhh… I just checked it, so there's nothing to worry about.”“Is that so.”“Yes,”With a calm expression, Carmen stepped down from the bed, walked towards Liam, and stopped when there was no space between them. Then she slowly started unbuttoning her blouse.“What are you doing?” Liam mumbled in shock.“You are fine, so it's okay for us to
The moment Carmen stopped her car and the lights from the cameras begin to go off and on, she tightened her hands around the steering wheel while watching the reporters from her windshield.Drowning in her own fear, Carmen's body didn’t know how to react, it just shut down, and she froze to a point where she was hardly breathing.Suddenly a tap on her window drew Carmen's attention to Hunter's face as he stared back at her.“Are you okay, young boss?” Hunter asked after Carmen had rolled the windshield down.As she held in her tears and suppressed her emotions, Carmen’s face became expressionless. Then she pushed opened the door and stepped down from the car. With a cold gaze, she stared at Hunter, pressed the lock button on her key, and asked, “Where're my parents?”“They are already inside. Your dad sent me out here to wait on you.” Hunter replied.“How nice of him. We shouldn't keep them waiting then.”“Yes, young boss. Please keep
“You lost her again. Just like that, you allow her to slip through your fingers.” Halton said while staring at the longing in Dax's eyes as he watched Carmen walk out of the hall.“What am I supposed to do? Chain her up and trap her in a cage?” Dax mumbled. With a smirk on his face, Halton lightly patted his son on the shoulder and said, “Well that's a solid plan. Now we are getting somewhere.”“You must be kidding me. Let me know if my voice wasn't sarcastical enough.” Dax coldly said while staring at his father like he was going insane. As he mentally brushed off his son's comment, Halton faintly chuckled as though he had remembered something funny. Then a mocking smile crossed his face.“You are weak-hearted just like your mother.” Halton teasingly said with tension in his grin.“Don't bring mom into such a conversation. She deserves to rest in peace after having a husband
“Why isn't she answering? Did something happen?” Liam mumbled while staring at Carmen's name blinking on his phone. After the fifth call, Liam grabbed his jacket, his keys, and rushed out of the bedroom while struggling to wear his coat. A few minutes later, he was seated behind the steering wheel, then it hit him. “Where's the conference held again? Damn, I knew I should have been there with her!” Liam muttered in frustration. Then he opened his browser, searching for any news about the press conference, but when he found nothing, Liam worried only intensified. At this point, his mind was swimming with random thoughts, and none of them was positive. So without thinking soundly, he started the car and drove off, not knowing exactly where he was heading. After driving around the city to most of the luxurious hotels and buildings he knew, Liam finally got a call from Carmen. He hastily stepped on the brake before answering the call.
“Morning, beautiful,” Liam mumbled as he stood at the bathroom door, watching Carmen brush her teeth. As she glanced at him, the corner of her mouth lifted. Then she gazed back at his reflection in the mirror while smiling with her eyes. The moment Carmen spit out the toothpaste, she felt Liam's hands around her waist, his fingers gently resting on her stomach and his body against her. Then he slowly turned her around and before Carmen could get the chance to react, his lips were against hers, and she felt her heart do a somersault when his tongue tangled with hers as his hand slowly slipped under her pajama shirt.“You taste like toothpaste.” Liam teased after their lips had parted.“Because I am brushing my teeth,” Carmen mumbled before playfully pushing Liam off of her.But she felt his hand on her hip, pulling her closer to him. Then he locked Carmen in his arms and whispered into her ear, “Which
