Ten o'clock

As the first light of a new day crept into the room, Carmen’s hand brushed Liam's side of the bed, and after feeling the sheets for him, she slowly raised her eyelids, and sleepy stared at his board back.

“Why are you up so early?” Carmen asked as she gently rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.

In a rush, Liam pulled his shirt over his wound, turned around, and stared back at her as his face softened into a smile.

“How bad is it?” Carmen asked, looking at him with a serious expression.

“Ummm, my wounds are healing pretty well,” Liam replied while avoiding her gaze.

“Can I see?” 

“Ahhh… I just checked it, so there's nothing to worry about.”

“Is that so.”

“Yes,”

With a calm expression, Carmen stepped down from the bed, walked towards Liam, and stopped when there was no space between them. Then she slowly started unbuttoning her blouse.
