Kidnap

The sunlight that shone through the office window faded slowly as Liam sat behind his desk with his eyes focused on his phone screen as he stared at the last message he sent to Carmen.

"She read it, so why hasn't she replied yet," Liam frustratingly whispered.

After another three minutes of staring at his phone, he leaned back in his seat and gazed at the ceiling before letting out a deep sigh.

"I thought giving her space will help her realize that we belong together. But now, I think that she is drifting even further away from me. She can't be serious about us being over, right?" Liam mumbled as stressful thoughts crowded his mind.

Suddenly his heart clenched with dread, and he felt a flutter of panic when reality hit him in the head and knocked some sense into him.

"Damn it. I am losing her. I can't lose her!" Liam muttered as he grabbed his car key and phone.
