The heart wants what it wants.

Dax waited for a few minutes at the door and as he was about to leave, Carmen's voice stopped him.

“I am sorry, but I can't join you for dinner.” She called out.

“That's fine. Good night, Carm.” Dax said.

It was silent for a while. Then Carmen patiently listened as Dax's footsteps got farther away from her door without taking her eyes off Liam. 

“What do you want?” Liam asked with anguish in his voice.

Carmen had an expression of sad confusion on her face and there were tracks of tears on her cheeks as she broke eye contact with Liam.

“I want you. But I also want you alive.” Carmen cried furiously.

“What are you talking about?” Liam mumbled, finally letting go of her wrists.

A great sense of weariness swept over her, sucking Carmen's energy with it as her heart ached with fear and pain.

“He's going to kill you, Liam. My dad is not someone who forgives and forgets.” Carmen said as her voice thickened with emotion.
