There was something off about the boat coming. The Dark Oungan, I realized.

“Whatever happens Mela, stay behind me, I don't think I need to tell you this, but remember I'm the good guy, no matter what game I'm forced to play to ensure we both including the pup survive, I'm not taking chances and that may mean I have to play a part or become something darker then what is coming.”

Her eyes found mine in the darkness letting her see the last bit of glow before I pushed the magic down, letting the darkness swallow the light. I could taste her anxiety and apprehension with my own.

The water sloshed from a soft wake alerting me.

“Wyatt?” I asked, risking my senses to stretch.

“Yes.”

“Did you find them?”

“Yes, Ma sha.”

“Make it quick.”

“Bri?”

“Protect our boys first, I've got this, but come quick.”

Then I blocked him and the effort of bracing against him barreling against that barrier I had created between us, caused me to elicit a stifled whine. Mela gripped my hand as I bit my lip

Unexpectedly epic takedown of the Oungan...picturing Bri like a little Godzilla breathing her magical fire down his throat!!! ;) And Lorraine is trying to add more despicable men to the contract and bragging about all the vile things they did to Bri? Gross!!! Thankful for Mela's reassurances!!!
