Chap 1: Circumstances

Outside the window, the sky was dark and gloomy. Lily sat in the room, her eyes dark and confident as she gazed into the distance. Like her former self, she stared up at the birds flying over the sky. She used to be so carefree and joyous, and now that I think about it, it's a shame that time has passed. All that was left beside her were ancient memories.

"Your breakfast is ready, Miss Lily! Invite the lady over for dinner!"- The housekeeper pushed open the door and glanced at the astonished girl, sighed quietly, and then walked to the next shelf to take down her coat and put it on her.

" Thank you, Smith!"- Lily smiled at her, hoping she wouldn't notice she wasn't feeling well. After all, being confined in this palace like a doll had almost made Lily forget what joy was. She's been doing this monotonous activity for almost three years, and her youth and excitement have vanished.

"Miss, you must look after your health, because the boss will be furious if you get sick!" Smith politely belted her shirt and caressed the wrinkles to make everything look neater.

"I know!" Lily gave her a short nod before rushing downstairs. She sighed in frustration as she stared around the dining table on her lap at the long line of maids. Every day was the same, and she felt as if she couldn't breathe because even her meals were inspected.

"I'll do it myself!"- Lily swiftly stopped the maid who went forward to assist her in picking up the instant food; she took the chopsticks herself, attempted to avoid the surrounding stares, and slowly ate her meal.

"Is the cuisine to your liking, Miss?"- Smith approached Lily, who showed no interest in the beautiful delicacies on the table, with concern. Lily sighed, shook her head, and wiped her mouth with a cloth gently.

"Will you please eat a little more, Miss? Let me know what you want to eat, and I'll have the chef prepare it for you!"

"It is unnecessary! I'm full! Take care of it!"- Lily stood up and peered out the window at the university outside, paused for a second before returning to her room. Even getting out has become a chore for her.

Butler Smith kept a concerned eye on her every move.

Lily had only been in bed for a few moments when she heard the sound of a car engine from the yard. She clinched her fists as she watched the luxury automobile enter the building.

The car door was soon unlocked, and Lily glanced at the middle-aged couple who were smiling and conversing, her eyes cold with venom as she watched them. The Taylors are back from a three-day business trip to Shanghai. They entered the living room and looked around, but their daughter was nowhere to be found. Lady Taylor turned to inquire about the housekeeper. Butler Smith noticed this and swiftly approached her, saying:

"The lady doesn't seem to be in a good mood today, so after having breakfast, she went upstairs to rest!"

"Is she unwell once more?"- Lady Taylor was frightened because Lily had been feeble since she was brought home, like a leaf that may be blown away at any minute. any. She clearly lives in luxury, but she never appears to be content with her life.

"Did you consult a physician?"- Mr. Taylor's fear was hidden, but he couldn't hide his current mood. It was extremely difficult for the couple to locate this long-lost daughter; despite the fact that the daughter is not close to them, their love for her remains strong. Seeing her due of his changing life circumstances and growing feeble, he was heartbroken.

"You don't seem to like socializing with strangers. I tried to get you to see a private doctor before, but you were adamant. So it can only be disregarded and the lady should manage everything herself"- Smith felt incredibly guilty as he stared at the owner and boss like that. The owners and grandparents frequently went away on business trips, and she was trusted to look after the young lady, but she failed miserably. She would have been blamed if she had been born into a different household.

"Allow me to speak with her!"- Lady Taylor swiftly went upstairs after patting her husband's arm.

Lily was folding clothes in the closet when she noticed her mother open the door. She paused her work on her hands, looked up at her, and then resumed her job as if nothing had happened.

"Aren't you relieved to see your mother? I bought you something!"- Lady Taylor is used to her daughter's appearance and smiled as she walked over to her side and sat down.

"You can merely delegate these tasks to the help! There's no need for you to touch it!"

"It's fine. I have no idea what to do anyhow; it's better to pack my belongings!" -Lily responded with a chilly tone. Anyway, she'd been sitting bewildered all day, so finding a small errand to keep herself from pondering was a smart idea.

"Okay, that's OK with me!" -This Lily. Lady Smith clasped her hand in hers and quietly sighed: Listen to Smith when he says your health isn't great these days! Do you have the impression that anything is amiss with you? I need to inform my mother so she can relax. Both mom and dad are working at the moment, therefore they don't have time to look after their children! I'll wait for everything to be well. I'll devote more time to you!

"It is not required! Keep active, you two!"- Lily isn't very interested in her promises. After all, their concern was for a reason, therefore she shouldn't expect anything in return.

Lady Smith was deeply depressed when she saw her in this state. People's children are always connected to their mothers, despite the fact that she has been with her daughter for such a long time and yet refuses to open her heart. Her daughter, on the other hand, is always an outsider. She's done everything, but it still doesn't work, and I'm not sure when our families will be able to get along.

"Lily... tomorrow is a business exchange party in the city. It is a very significant party, I hope you to attend so that you can make more friends. I will deliver it to you shortly. Is it possible for me to purchase ready-made items?

Lily realized the problem as soon as she finished speaking. As it turned out, her activities had a purpose from beginning to end, and treating her properly was simply for the small advantage she could provide.

"I know!"- Lily emphasized that she knew what she had said, despite her heart's dissatisfaction, she was too used to it, and her worth was merely that.

Lady Taylor perceived her as if she was closing the door and refusing to communicate, so she dejectedly patted her hand and walked away. Her scarlet lips curved up mockingly as Lily followed her form. Let things be, she's no longer expecting anything.
