Chapter Twenty Five

I could smell something familiar but I wasn't sure what it was. As the fog cleared and my mind cleared, I realized it was smoke. Was something burning? I could hear voices yelling but I couldn't see, it was too dark. I stayed low on the floor as I crawled in what I hoped was the direction of the door. I reached up feeling the handle, it was warm but not hot. I turned the knob, slowly opening the door, I could see an orange glow coming from somewhere. I called out for my mates, but only silence answered me. I tried again, but still, not a sound except the weird quiet, crackling fire makes as it eats through its source.

I thought I heard someone calling my name, I tried to look around but I couldn't see anything or anyone. I heard heavy footsteps running towards me, two big hands grabbed me off the floor. ok so that was a really fast incident.. I feel like I'm missing parts of the story here. like who found her and carried her out? why does no one think about Sheila and her mom after all they did? I mean it all literally just happened.
