Respect

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. Marcus had always been good at manipulating me, making me doubt my own feelings. But not this time. Not anymore.

“If you have no respect for me before, at least respect my relationship with Elijah,” I said firmly, my eyes locked with his.

Marcus's face contorted in anger. “What relationship? You barely know him. He's just your lover, I'm still your husband"

I couldn't help but laugh at his words. “You really think that's all he is to me? Marcus, you never understood me. You never saw how much I loved Elijah, even when we were still together now”

Marcus's jaw dropped in shock and I saw the pain in his eyes.

“Calm down. I’m just kidding,” he said but obviously pretending.

I shook my head, feeling pity for Marcus. ”I won't let you ruin my happiness now,”
