“Wait here.” He orders as he puts the car in the parking lot of a shopping complex.

“What do you want to get?”

A small quirk of his brow tells me that was the wrong question to ask.

“You’ll see.”

He climbs out of the car and disappears into the complex, I try to follow him with my eyes but he got lost in the crowd.

I sigh and sag into my seat. Instead of dwindling my thumbs as I wait for his return, I dial Joanna's phone number, my father’s secretary.

“Hey Joanna..” I pause when I hear shuffling in the background. And then even more shuffling.

“Roxanne.. hello..” she answers breathily.

“Is this a bad time?”

More shuffling,

“No, not really. I needed the break anyway.”

“Is something going on?”

She sighs,

“Your father is contesting the will. He says there is nothing wrong with being progressive.”

I snort. Like sucking up to his mother in-law was the least bit progressive.
