Chapter 91

Solana's POV

As I entered the unit, I found Kris lying on the couch, a bowl of popcorn resting on her belly.

I walked over and lifted her feet, taking the space below.

"You're back," she said, sitting up and studying me with an intense gaze.

"What's wrong?" she asked, concern evident in her face.

I looked at her, took a deep breath, and spoke.

"Dad..." I trailed off.

"He's dying," I added.

Kris's expression turned to worry and sadness.

After a moment, she placed the popcorn on the table and pulled me into a tight hug.

I sobbed into her shoulder, and Kris gently stroked my back, soothing me.

We stayed in that position until I calmed down. Eventually, I broke the hug and looked at Kris.

Her eyes were filled with sadness. Tears welled up in the corners.

Kris cupped my face and used her thumb to brush away my tears.

"I'm here," she reminded me, which made me smile and nod.

"I know," I said.

"I'll move out tomorrow morning to be with Dad. I want to spend more time with him," I shared my pl
